Our Mission & History

Our mission is to advance the nonprofit sector by promoting best practices, fostering connections, and celebrating excellence.

Our vision is to create a stronger, healthier, and more vibrant community through an empowered nonprofit sector.

The Partnership is a membership-based organization that provides an extensive array of program and support services to a community of more than 500 member nonprofits. Since 2006, The Nonprofit Partnership has served the nonprofit community by providing education, training, consulting, and information-sharing tools. The Partnership was founded by, and works closely with, The Erie Community Foundation – the Partnership is located on the Foundation’s campus in The Susan Hirt Hagen Center for Transformational Philanthropy at 609 Walnut St., Erie, PA 16502.

Where We Are Now

Today, we stand as a growing, connected community built on shared purpose and meaningful engagement. Our events continue to bring together nonprofit leaders, professionals, volunteers, and supporters who are committed to learning, collaboration, and positive change.

Through workshops, conferences, networking sessions, and virtual programs, we actively support the evolving needs of the nonprofit sector. We focus on providing timely education, fostering peer connections, and creating inclusive spaces where ideas can be exchanged openly. Where we are now reflects not only our progress, but also our commitment to adapting, listening, and responding to the challenges and opportunities facing our community.

Things That Have Happened Along the Way

Along the way, our journey has been shaped by growth, resilience, and shared experiences. We’ve expanded our event offerings to include both in-person and virtual formats, allowing broader participation and increased accessibility.

We’ve hosted impactful conferences, celebrated nonprofit achievements, facilitated professional development sessions, and built partnerships that strengthen the sector as a whole. In 2026, we will host the 25th Keystone Nonprofit Conference (previously known as Nonprofit Day), a milestone event that reflects a quarter century of convening nonprofit professionals for learning, connection, and inspiration. Each milestone — from our earliest gatherings to our most recent events — has reinforced the importance of connection, learning, and collective action.

These experiences have helped define who we are today and continue to guide how we plan future events: with intention, collaboration, and a deep respect for the work being done across our nonprofit community.

With so many non-profits in Erie County, it is great to have resources and collaboration available through the Erie Non-Profit Partnership. I have attended several of the Nonprofit Partnership Day Seminars and I look forward to the content each year. With changes in policy and technology trends, it is also nice to have access to learning opportunities throughout the year. It is really nice to have a centralized organization to assist with our varying needs. Thank you!

Each of the (many) trainings that I have attended through The Nonprofit Partnership over the past… years has provided a valuable resource for professional development opportunity for staff and Board Members to the overall benefit of our organization [the Foundation for Sustainable Forests]. NPP trainings are focused, relevant and on-point for the needs of a small non-profit organization such as ours.
