Looking for a FUN summer job? GECAC in Erie PA is looking for an enthusiastic, fun, creative, and positive role model to serve as the Upward Bound Summer Program Residential Assistant / Activities Assistant! This role puts you in the heart of the 6-week Upward Bound Program where you will make a difference in the lives of teenagers. Our Activities Assistant will serve as mentor, confidant, social influencer, as well as activity leader for Upward Bound students.
Upward Bound serves high school students who are planning to be the first in their families to go to college; the Summer Program gives them a taste of what college might be like. You will help guide them through that process and share their own insights to the college experience.
This position starts Sunday June 19th, and runs Sunday – Wednesday, 5 pm to Midnight on the campus of Edinboro University for 6 weeks. You will assist full time staff and must be able to create and implement fun, interesting, social and recreational activities to help build and maintain group cohesion. Experience with summer camps or Upward Bound a plus.
REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 19 years old and working toward or have earned a bachelor’s degree. The ability to work flexible hours as needed. Must provide Act 33, 34 & FBI clearances issued within the previous 5 years and three letters of reference from individuals who have known you 5 or more years. Meet immigration Reform Act requirements and proof of education.
