Prevention Education Specialist
Prevention Education Specialist with Crime Victim Center of Erie County, Inc.
Required Qualifications/Competencies:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services or Related Field, such as Social Work, Public Health, Criminal Justice, etc.
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
- Flexible schedule (includes occasional nights and weekends)
- Public speaking/presentation experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint and Publisher
- Proficient in online communication technologies such as Zoom
- Experience in conducting online training and/or developing educational products for online use
- Excellent Communication Skills (both written and oral)
- Organizational skills with the ability to independently prioritize and complete multiple, ongoing projects
- Trustworthy, self-motivated, able to manage time schedule and work independently
- Understanding of human development and delivery of programs to multiple age levels
- Able to collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds
- Able to handle emotionally charged situations
- Must possess current Child Abuse, Pennsylvania State Police and FBI Background Clearances
Ideal Competencies:
- Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Education, Criminal Justice or related fields
- Facilitation skills for small and large group discussion
- Knowledge of, and experience with, Primary Prevention components
- Experience in planning activities and programs related to sexual assault and sexual violence prevention
- Background in victim services and/or sexual violence prevention
Job duties:
- Coordinates with the Prevention Education team to deliver programming on victimization topics, empowerment and prevention throughout Erie County including through the virtual realm
- Conducts needs assessments to determine programming needs and prevention strategies
- Develops and continues evaluation of programs
- Maintains data on presentations given in the community
- Develops visual aides to be used in conjunction with programming
- Prepares reports as needed for funding sources, agency Board, community agencies and others
