Summer Naturalist Interns (3 openings)

Internship Description

For students who are pursuing degrees in environmental science/studies, biology, geosciences, natural sciences, education, early childhood education, outdoor recreation management, wildlife conservation, or closely related fields, this internship is an opportunity to gain experience work with visitors and connecting them to nature. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about planning and developing environmental educational programming for children and adults. Interns will also be involved with our summer preschool programs, summer camp, and group visits while working with our Education staff. Interns will also be involved with caring for the Center’s educational animals. Interns will learn about the practices and day-to-day operations of a busy nature center.

Naturalist internships may begin in May or June 2021 and end August 2021 and are available to current students and recent graduates. Flexibility is available on the exact start and end dates to accommodate the selected candidates' schedules. Naturalist interns work 25 hours/wk, on weekdays and occasionally on weekends or evenings, as needed.

Naturalist Interns (3 positions available)

Location: Asbury Woods, Erie, PA

Dates: Summer internships may be completed May - August 2021
Schedule: 25 hours/wk on average – 350 hours total
Stipend: $500 stipend paid in two increments over the internship, once at the completion of 175 hours and once at 350 hours
