Community Development Intern

Duties and Responsibilities:


Specific duties include, but may not be limited to:
• Grant education and processing
• Conduct surveys of people, buildings, and infrastructure
• Assist in neighborhood planning activities
• Develop and implement community engagement activities
• Assist in facilitating neighborhood meetings, workshops, and special events
• Receive and prepare tool and supply donations for neighborhood use or for sale
• Maintain inventory of tool donations, and update in inventory system as needed
• Develop a tool recycling or resale program to provide a sustainable funding stream for the initiative
• Light office or clerical duties around the neighborhood center

Additional Opportunities:
• Participate in and learn about macro community practice, placemaking strategies, and nonprofit leadership activities
• Participate in and learn about additional communications initiatives such as social media, stakeholder engagement, and grassroots actions
• Interface with cross-sector (public, private, and government) entities and leaders around city and county-level policy and programming work
• Develop and implement efficiencies in programming and processes to improve existing and new services and initiatives

Time commitment is flexible, upwards to 20 hours per week. This position is unpaid.

 

Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a degree in social work, business management, nonprofit administration, communication, or a related field
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
• Proficiency in common social media platforms
• Interested in learning about community development
• Strong attention to detail
• Very task-oriented
• Self-starter
